Many designers keep sketchbooks full of images for ideas and inspiration. How about keeping one for colour schemes? The possibilities are endless.
One of my most prized possessions is my Colour Diary from my days of studying Textile Design. We were encouraged to keep and update our diaries weekly. As a mature student and a bit of a nerd, I would spend my Friday evenings doing exactly that. I found looking through magazines along with the cutting and pasting quite addictive yet relaxing at the end of the week.
Most pages are inspired by a single word:
TROPICAL
BOHEMIAN
NANTUCKET (Americana)
SPICE
Of course, these pages are my own interpretation of each word. If you would like to start your own colour diary, I would advise you to use a small notebook otherwise you may find it harder to fill the pages.

Oh this brings back memories! We had a similar project at school. After 'collecting' varied paint swatches from bunnings I cut them all into tiny little squares and made a mosaic colour swatch book.
Looks like a wonderful inspiration for your fabrics:)
We would love to see your colour mosaics Alarna!

Thanks for sharing, it's amazing how many of those sorts of things we hang on to forever, with good reason too.
yeahey! LOVE your colour diary. We also had to do that at TAFE & at Uni which was a good motivator, makes you look at everything with a different eye!
This is wonderful Thea, thanks so much for sharing! Maybe also the push I needed to start diarising again too!
