I scored big! My parents were our lunch guests recently when my mother presented me with her vintage Czech "Bohemia" blue jug set.
Each piece is exquisitely hand-blown glass and hand-painted with 24 carat gold flowers. I had told my mother a little while ago that I really wanted this set to remember her by one day... so I was a little teary when she surprised me with it as a house-warming gift.
I'm not sure where this set originated from as I had bought it from a little 2nd-hand dealer in Mississauga, Canada a few years ago but was told at that time that it was Russian but who knows? I believe that it is also painted with gold.
Have you found any vintage beauties lately? To see who has, pop over to Her Library Adventures.

Oh, very nice Thea! I too have several water set like these, origianally gifted to my parents as wedding presents. These now grace my glass cabinet ... fabulous to look at, classy when used!
Both sets are beautiful! Second one could be Russian, as they used to make things in similar style.
Thanks for confirming that. My husband is Polish and didn't think that Russia made glass.
They are absolutely gorgeous!
I especially love the blue colour, I haven't seen anything like it.
There were many great glass factories all over Soviet Union. I have found some beautiful things from antique and vintage stores in Tallinn and Riga.
Oh Thea - that is such a wonderful thing for your Mum to have done - and it is a really beautiful set too! No doubt your Mum will enjoy seeing you put it to good use when you have her over.
These pieces are fantastic! I especially love the first one. I have some wonderful tea sets from Poland that I inherited from my mother. Probably made in the 50's.
I have not purchased anything at a flea market in a long time. I live in a one bedroom apartment and unfortunately space is limited. But I love scouring markets!
such beautiful sets, the blue is amazing! what a beautiful mother you have! : )
That blue set is fab - how very lovely of your mum to pass it to you now. I have set of 40s green cut glass jug and tumblers from my grandmother's house and people always admire them - I think you blue glass will attract plenty of admirers!
these are beautiful ... and how nice of your Mum to present them to you now. wow.
