Am I the only one who is seeing red? I seem to be using more red ink than any other colour lately. I have become obsessed with screen-printing red designs.
What joy! After having these 2 vintage armchairs in my studio for almost two years, I have finally fulfilled my dream of having them covered with Thea & Sami fabric. Emily Tappenden did a wonderful job of cutting and sewing the covers.
You may remember the original chair from a previous post. Lovely bones but really needing a face-lift. Ha, that reminds me of that old Aussie song "Nice legs, shame about the face". Am I the only one old enough to remember that?
Don't you love before and after shots?
This is the close-up of our fretwork print on hemp/organic cotton. Is anybody else loving the red because I really want to add this to our collection of eco-interior design fabrics?
Yay! Tomorrow, I am expecting our shipment of 100% organic cotton twill and organic cotton canvas.

WOW! Love the red.
The red looks gorgeous! And love your reupholstered armchairs..
Oh Thea - these are just fabulous! They're so gorgeous - you have such a good eye! And yes, I love red too - I'm always drawn to it with screenprinting. It's so vibrant and fresh but warm at the same time. Lovely post - thanks for this :) K
I'm mostly definitely loving the red. those chairs look fabulous, what a fantastic transformation.
I also love to restore new life to furniture and I'm working from an approximately one month to the former seat of a friend of mine (from the rest of the wood and new tissues, but very difficult to take measures to cushion when you are not an upholsterer). Lovely selection of the plea and color for your new chair.
Regards from Italy, Giovanna
Fantastic Thea! The chairs look incredible. I'm really glad that you chose 2 different prints too. They look amazing. I'm a red girl too :)
Thea, you must be torn between standing back and admiring your gorgeous, gorgeous chairs, and grabbing a cuppa and sitting in them!

I love the chairs and I love the tunics with cant be botthered shaving my legs leggins too!
Thea these are just wonderful! It's all this cold weather that's making us all feel like wearing and seeing warm reds :) The upholstery job is great and those patterns are spot on for the chairs. (btw - Pete calls that Aussie saying 'Prawns' - will let you figure it out :) ).
Oh my Thea, I adored these chairs when I first sat on them. Now they are truly stunning.
just found your lovely blog: I am in the process of choosing fabric for my two very similar vintage teak armchairs..now I am more confused these are fantastic!
Oh yes! this is SO me :) And I scored a chair just like this one off the council clean up!! The only issue with my chair is the the seat cushions are not separates, it is vinyl covered with press studs ?? So not exactly sure how to tackle covering it - any suggestions greatly appreciated :)
Can you make some kind of slip cover for it? Otherwise, getting a professional upholsterer would be quite expensive.
Ooooh yes! loving it!
