Positive Progress Report

Things are slowly progressing. Thank goodness the rain stopped so that we can move forward. This is a post of good things.

First of all, meet Dan. He is our new studio assistant and is actually trained in screen-printing - yay!

It has been great having an extra male around to help with installing shelves and lifting heavy stuff, etc.

As you may remember, one of my goals for this year was to be proactive with sending out media releases. Yesterday, I was determined to do so before leaving for work.

This is the media kit that I posted to a few magazines. Yes, I could have just emailed images but I didn't want them to get lost among the hundreds of emails that I imagine that they receive. I figured that my little parcel would get the recipient's attention if I included a nice product sample, right?

The kit includes a personalised, hand-written card and a disc with high-resolution images taken on our recent photo shoot. I also wrote a few paragraphs about Thea & Sami as I've been told that it's easier for journalists and more likely to be used if you have it all ready. As you can see, I got to play with my new stamp set (see previous post). I'll let you know what comes of it all.

Today the roof is being repaired at the landlord's expense and all of these bad skylights are being replaced. I almost feel sorry for the skylight company as they had a new person install them who obviously wasn't too competent. Oh, good help is so hard to find!

I'm happy to report that the roll of fabric that looked wet from the outside was okay once we unwrapped it. So far, it doesn't look like any stock is damaged. Fortunately, I do store most of our homewares at home.

Today we should have one table set up for printing in time for my workshop this weekend and be finished with unpacking by tomorrow. I liked Simone's advice about not thinking about it all but just doing what needs to be done. So wise.

I hope you enjoy International Women's Day today!

Oh crap! It's just started raining here. Luckily we covered the table with a tarp before we left yesterday. This does not make our job easy today.
