I finally had a day off yesterday and it was an exciting one. Voyt and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a hot air balloon ride over Brisbane. This is something I had wanted to do for a long time and I wasn't disappointed.
I had no idea how much was involved with preparing for flight. We were quite fortunate weather-wise as the wind conditions were perfect. Another couple who were on our flight had to wait 6 times before they could finally fly!
We all met in Toowong park in Brisbane's western suburbs and ended up having to embark from Salisbury in Brisbane's south for the ideal take-off conditions. The balloon was first inflated using an industrial fan and then with gas for it to start lifting off the ground. The other balloon in the picture and sky (1st photo) belonged to a rival flight operator.
Look at the size of our balloon!
This was our view of Brisbane city at 6.30 in the morning. Not a cloud in the sky meant that we could see the high-rises of the Gold Coast and the Glass House Mountains at the Sunshine Coast.
Floating over the city was such a lovely and serene experience. The balloon cannot be steered but controlled to some degree by catching air currents at different heights. The landing spot varies daily depending on the wind and we ended up landing in Carina, not far from my home.
Everybody helped in pushing the air out of the balloon after landing and packing it up. We were then driven to Brisbane's Sofitel Hotel for the most delicious hot buffet breakfast.
Thank you to Steve and Rudy from Fly Me to the Moon for a great experience!
And thank you to my wonderful Voyt who helps make my dreams come true and for his never-ending love and support. We spent the rest of the day hanging out and relaxing, something I personally find hard to do.
Today it's back to work to screen-print my new shipment of natural linen tea-towels.

Wow, what a great experience! And congratulations on your 10th anniversary. We got money for a hot-air balloon trip when we got married 7 years ag but never got around to doing it... I think we may do it here with this company!
Congratulations to you both! Thank you for the lovely round up of your balloon ride. Being the sooky la la I am I would never be brave enough to go up. I sounds as though you had the most wonderful morning.
That looks like fun...a little scary, but fun. Now you'll have to skydive for your 20th!:)

I do recommend it. It really wasn't scarey as you are moving with the wind. I'm really not that brave and would never skydive or bungee jump.
A wonderful way to celebrate. It's a magical way to fly.
Congratulations to you guys! I hope you celebrate many more beautiful anniversaries together :)
I stumbled upon your blog and was so interested that I am following you now. Happy belated anniversary to you darling. Wishing you health, happiness and lots of wealth.
