Granny Chic

Happy New Year!

Everybody loves freebies and I am certainly no exception.  Imagine my delight when I received this beautiful Margo Selby clasp purse in the mail this week.
Margo Selby is a British award-winning textile designer who develops hand-woven samples.  The fabrics are then woven in English mills.  My silk-blend purse is the perfect size for an evening bag and has different views, front and back.

How did I get the purse?  It was a gift from Selvedge Magazine for renewing my subscription. Anybody who loves textiles is reading this magazine.  It is published in the UK but you can subscribe to it internationally.  Of course, you can claim it as a business expense if you a designer :)

This year, I will be featuring more crafts and other creative talents on my blog.  I will be selling at local markets and am kicking off the year on Sunday, 4th January at the Designers Emporium Boutique Market at Everton Park.

I will be looking forward to meeting the other stall holders so if you are in Brisbane this weekend, come by and say hello and please visit Thea & Sami.

Really like the colours in this purse! How did the Everton Designer Markets go?

Thank you both for your comments.

The markets were quiet (expected) but I did have a retailer very interested in stocking the tea-towels and clothing in February. Stay posted.

A bit late I know but I do agree Margo's creations are wonderful. She designs fantastic three dimensional fabrics with repeated geometric patterns, often raised circles. These are then produced in quantity by English mills and finally hand crafted into bags, scarves, cushions and other items. We sell a lot in our shop and online (unfortunately only to UK customers). Margo sells from her own site margoselby.com and exports to the EU and USA.
