I'm Older Now

Hello everybody. We had a wonderful long weekend. Our lovely accommodation with its quiet, green surroundings was almost too relaxing. We read and slept a lot and even the dog chilled out on the veranda although she did "escape" twice.

This was our backyard view. I am finding it difficult to switch back into work mode now. However, I do promise to show you new fabric designs by the end of this week. They will be screen-printed next week. We are awaiting new coloured, organic base fabrics as new designs will be printed and available as eco-fashion fabrics too.

Today is my birthday and my sweet girl Elessa treated me to high tea at High Societea in Clayfield. It is one of our favourite places in Brisbane and ideal for special girlie meet-ups. Of course it was perfect.

I'm not sure what the deal is with my lah-de-dah pose but it could that I am older now (I am in my forties, after all). I have noticed that the following now apply:
  • I need reading glasses
  • I can't remember where I have put things
  • Weight no longer "falls off" like it used to
  • Hair dyeing is no longer an option but a necessity
  • I prefer to stay home in the evenings unless I plan ahead and have a nanna nap
  • Shoes are chosen for style only after comfort needs are met
  • As above for lingerie and underwear
  • I don't like lying in the hot sun anymore.
Have you been exhibiting any "older" behaviour?

Happy birthday Thea! Looks like you had a divine holiday, but I am happy you are back as I cannot WAIT to see your new fabric designs!

Don't worry, most of the things on your 'older' behaviour list are certainly on mine too :)

Me old? Not yet it seems. I do love your posing though, suitably high tea like.

Happy birthday Thea from a fellow Capricorn!
Going by your list I have been 'old/older' for some time now. With any luck it will work in reverse, as I grow older I will loose the 'aging' traits. tee hee. I wish!
Cant' wait to see some of your new work! (pity I cannot make it to the workshop also :-(

Well, I'm only 25 and ALL of the things on your list are also on mine. That doesn't say much about me does it? Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday Thea! You were just around the corner from us if you were at High Societea... I still haven't been there, it's hard with only boys in the house...

Happy Birthday!
I can tick all of the above and i'm only in my thirties so i think it has nothing to do with being old..that's my story and i'm sticking to it

Hi Thea - your break away looks like a great spot to chill out and unwind.

In relation to your question - I'm like Dragonfly and need glasses to find my glasses when I put them down!!

Thanks for all your lovely comments. I actually own 3 pairs of (cheap) reading glasses so I can hopefully always find a pair when I need to.

Yes, welcome to your 40's Thea. Also some things our mothers didn't tell us...
*hair disappearing from some places where it's supposed to be to reappear where it's not supposed to be.
*despite being busy, having nothing much to show for it at the end of the day.
*doctors being younger than us.
So pleased you were able to enjoy your day in such a stylish manner
Bye

Happy Birthday to you Thea!! Wishing you all the best.

Welcome to the forties, I'm there too! Wow, I got all the above issues as well, except for the gray hair. But then again I do add highlights to my dark blonde hair so maybe some of the grays have been blending in with the highlights. lol!

Oh, happy belated birthday Thea. How completely civilised and posh to pop out for high tea! Sounds like a perfect way to celebrate another year gone by, especially with your girl.

I will admit to some giggles at your 'the following now apply' list.

How perfect - high tea with your daughter! Make each such celebration a moment to cherish and treasure regardless of how old you might be turning (or feel!).

Happy Birthday and Happy New Year!
