Upcycled Vintage Lamp

I love upcycling.

According to Wikipedia, 'Upcycling' is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.

I will include "ugly" in the definition which, in my opinion, is what this vintage ceramic lamp was when I found it.

After a good clean, a couple of coats of ceramic paint and a Thea & Sami hand-printed lampshade, I think it looks quite modern, don't you think?

Or perhaps you prefer the look of a larger lampshade? Both shades feature our best-selling 'Marguerite' design on natural flax linen. I have created a page on our website for upcycled vintage lamps that I hope to find and list from time to time including this one and only lamp base.

Showing the versatility of our drum-shaped lamp shades, this is the large lampshade paired with a vintage lamp stand. See with our Brisbane City screen print and my retro armchair that is upholstered with Red Fretwork hemp/organic cotton.

This blog post has been recreated by me to the best of my memory because I can now longer wait in hope that Blogger will return the original post that vanished yesterday.

Thanks ladies. I think you are too modest Kylie, you are pretty clever with your creations too. Jennie, I know you will upcycle those zips and cottons too. x

I love the natural flax linen. I wish I had some time to upcycle an old chair I have.
