Cutie Patootie

How sweet do I look in my lovely new dress? My name is Madeleine and I am wearing my new dress made by my designer mum, Petra and featuring Thea & Sami's baby-soft "Pets and Bones" muslin fabric in lolly pink. The contrasting neck ruffle was hand-stitched by mummy too.

Thanks Madeleine!

Proud mama, Petra Jones is the talent behind Mooce Baby and was won of the winners of our new Pets & Bones hemp/organic muslin and was happy to trial the fabric. 1/2 metre was more than enough for this sweet dress. The fabric is very lightweight making it ideal for those hot summer days and can be gentle machine-washed.

If you are looking for a lovely eco-friendly fabric that is kind to sensitive skins, you can purchase some "Pets and Bones" muslin, also available in Jelly Green, through the Thea & Sami store.

Blast Off

Our screen printing class was a blast last Saturday! The eager participants were keen to try out their ideas and wasted no time in putting their newly acquired skills to good use.

Petra Jones is expanding her Mooce Baby range to include more designs for boys. I think the spacecraft themes would delight any youngster, don't you?

I'm always impressed with what a hand-cut stencil can produce. This is a screen-printed line drawing of Petra's dog Tyson.

Here is the lovely lady herself on textile-dryer duty.

Now I have to get back to updating my website but more workshop photos will follow tomorrow so stay tuned.

Psst, do you want to screen-print? There are still places available for the next class.

New Kid on the Block

This is cutie patootie (I love saying that) Madeleine and she is modelling these funky pants created by her clever mummy, Petra Jones.

The pants have been included in the new Mooce range and are featuring Thea & Sami's "Pets and Bones" design in black organic cotton jersey.

Part of my exciting news this week is that more people are choosing to buy and use our fabrics in their own designs. I have asked Petra to answer a few questions about her label and inspirations:

Why did you start your label?

I have had an interest in fashion design all my life. After finishing my studies within the industry, life’s long road directed me away from my true passion.

During my pregnancy I had the opportunity to re-visit my dreams and I made the decision to pursue them. I started doing some clothes designs for my baby girl and to say I had a revelation would probably be an understatement. Before I knew it I had a bunch of designs in my hand and my dreams started to form into reality.

Where does the name "Mooce" come from?

When thinking about a name I couldn’t help but draw from within my own family. My husband and I spend so much time adoring our baby, giving her kisses and cuddles, so I thought what a wonderful name (Kisses and Cuddles that is). Inspired by my native language ‘Czech’, Mooce (pronounced Mutzy) loosely translates to kisses and cuddles, so there you have it.

What other products are included in your range?

My range includes selections for both boys and girls and also fashionable gifts and accessories perfect for baby gifts or first birthday presents. It is fun, cheeky, stylish fashion exclusively designed and made in Australia. I pride myself on quality, unique designs and good quality materials to make beautiful clothing for children.

Where can we buy your products?

Currently, you can buy some of my products at my ‘Etsy’ shop or ‘Made it’ shop.

What else can we expect from Mooce?

It is very exciting times as I have been madly working on my website which hopefully will be launched in June 2009. As soon as that is up and running you can go to www.moocebaby.com.au to buy my full range of products.

For those living in Brisbane I will be attending the Mathilda’s Market in July and November this year – make sure you come and say hello!

Thanks Petra.

As with all Thea & Sami fabrics, the design is hand-printed with water-based, solvent-free inks, safe for babies and the environment. This is the "Pets and Bones" in green organic jersey.

Look out for new fabrics being updated this week in our on-line store.
