Delicious Runners

New table runners have been added to our collection. The runners have been quite popular and make the ideal Christmas gift. What I like about them is that they suit and fit just about any table. It doesn't matter if they are shorter or longer than the table. I keep one on my coffee table.

The new Spoon and Whisk table runner is printed on a lovely weight of hemp/organic cotton fabric. The organic cotton really makes this fabric soft. The runner is available in Really Red, Burnt Orange or Cocoa Bean. Or you could make your own home-wares, curtains, aprons etc by purchasing the fabric here. Available in 1/4 metre minimums.

As you can see, we have been using up the red ink lately. The mushrooms runner is printed on natural linen and would brighten up any table. Also available in a brown colourway and as a fabric.

Don't forget that shipping is always free for Australian buyers on any purchase in the Thea & Sami online store. International buyers will be notified of extra postage costs, usually only a little more after Aussie sales taxes are deducted from your order.

I'm off to another busy day today. I am attending the Artists Talk at Artisan this morning and am especially looking forward to the Brisbane ABCD meet up tonight. I have to finish making my contribution for the goody bags. Sorry that I can't show you what that is yet but it is a surprise for the recipients.

The highlight of my day may be my much-needed facial this afternoon. Are you doing anything special today?

Spoon & Whisk

My house is a mess and my bookkeeping hasn't been done for the last quarter but I have managed to finally do a new fabric design! Let me introduce you to "Spoon & Whisk". This is quite an achievement as my biggest frustration is not having the time to do new designs. I have so many half-finished ones in my files, I kid you not!

So I asked Curlyhead to draw some cute kitchen utensils for me as I really like her drawings. I then played around with colouring some, placement and repeats and am quite happy with this now.

I am planning to have the screen for these ready for printing early next week so am wondering about colours? I really like retro colours like burnt orange and brown.

Red prints are always popular and I know many of you like green.

For your chance to be one of the first to own some of this fabric, please let me know what colour you would like to see printed. This will be printed on hemp/organic cotton ideal for homewares and kitchen curtains. This blog giveaway will end next Friday 13th November (lucky day for someone) and the winner will win 1/2 metre of "Spoon & Whisk"

If you're in Brisbane, you will be able to acquire some of this fabric at our Open Studio Day. There will be lucky door prizes so come along. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.

A Lovely Autumn Day

Oh, what a lovely day I had today. It was such a glorious, warm and sunny day in Brisbane (what else is new) that Voyt and I took it quite easy.

The day began with brunch at Mondo Organics at West End. I had been meaning to check this place out for a while but since they don't do Sunday breakfast, it wasn't easy for me to get there. They are Australia's first fully-licensed organic restaurant with an extensive menu plus the best-tasting coffee in town!

Owner Brenda Fawdon also runs regular cooking classes if you are interested. I introduced myself to Brenda today so there could be an upcoming Thea & Sami Organic Fashion Parade at the restaurant. Networking with like-minded people is definitely the key to growing your business.

Then we strolled up the street to the local Op Shop, again something I never have time to do. I picked up some old bed sheets to try an idea that I have been thinking about. I can't tell you exactly what yet but yes, it does involve screen-printing + upcycling. Voyt was excited because he found a French book and a Portuguese one. Did I tell you that he is fluent in 4 languages? Which is probably why he can't remember other things on a daily basis.

After that, I was eager to check out the new Tangled Yarns store that opened recently in Newstead (why was I the last to know?) What a lovely surprise when I walked in and people recognised me from the Stitches and Craft Show! I am super-excited because the store offers crochet lessons for beginners, the one craft that I haven't mastered plus knitting lessons.

I also found out that there is a weekly stitch and bitch group that meets on Tuesday evenings at West End. I will update you once I know the exact details.

After all that excitement, we went to the studio to screen print fabric for a couple of hours which really didn't seem like work at all. So don't fret Steph and Susan, your Rose Fretwork printed hemp/cotton will be posted on Monday.

I also want to point out that I have employed someone to update my website weekly (namely my son) so will be listing new products, including clothing and craft packs soon onto our on-line store.

Moo Moo

One of the most exciting things about participating in the Brisbane Stitches and Craft Show last week was meeting all you wonderful bloggers and blog followers.  I was delighted to meet Therese Hayes who creates beautiful bags and chooses to use Australian designer fabrics in her work.

I had visited the Little Mary Moo's Place blog before and admired the creations so was especially thrilled when Therese purchased some of our "Fretwork" hemp/organic cotton fabric, hand-printed in red to complement the denim of this messenger bag. Funnily enough, the red print was leftover from a special order but I am now inspired to print more of it.

You can purchase this and other bags at etsy store: Little Mary Moo's Place.
