The Weakest Link

There are days when I just want to cry. Last Tuesday was one of those days. We received a shipment of our new organic cotton t-shirts from our manufacturer and Emily and I were shocked to find THIS much wasted fabric as "off-cuts". This is totally unacceptable coming from a contractor who calls themselves a professional and thought the original fabric was "not as wide". Needless to say, we are now looking for another jersey manufacturer so let me know if you have any recommendations.

So what do I do with all this organic cotton/spandex jersey? If it was woven fabric we could print it and sell it as quilting packs or make up some of our adorable door-mice or lavender products. I was thinking of maybe making some hairbands? If anybody has any idea of how I can try and salvage some of this terrible waste, please let me know.

On a positive note, we have been getting orders for our printed fabrics and Step Bond of Bondville wrote a lovely post about us on her blog. Thank you Steph.

I know the feeling of ordering fabric and getting the wrong color. faulty fabric or just not what you ordered and feeling helpless as you have paid in advance.... I've been in tears because of this and understand what you going through with this issue. Headbands sound great! Hope you can find a use for it. All the best!!!

You're so welcome Thea! And I hope that someone has a genius idea for all the leftover jersey.

Oh what a shame. It would be terrible to waste such lovely fabric. Is there enough to make arm warmers or let warmers? I think the weight would be perfect for arm warmers in Brissy!!

What a shame. You think also in this day & age people will try to stop wasteage. Is there enough for scarves or neckwarmer? Even with some screen printing, it would look great?

With your extra pieces you could make some of those ‘belly bands’. They were my best friend during pregnancy and beyond! I also wore them prior to being pregnant just to hide my tummy in some outfits and to add extra pizzazz! Usually they are stretchy bands worn as belts over your pant/skirt line etc.

I too get your pain. Its a bit more difficult with it being a stretch fabric. I use my off cuts for making my brooches and appliques. I like the idea of the leg warmers and bump covers. Otherwise, what about headbands?
