Organic and Stylish

Do you remember my model and blog follower Kylie Timmins? We did a fun photo shoot together a few weeks ago. Here are more photos from that day that were taken in a department store. I won't mention which one because hey, they don't need nor give us free publicity.

Doesn't Kylie look lovely holding our new Le Soir Clutch Purse? This is another in the series from our collaboration with talented bag designer Lyssy May. The best news is that the purse is not only stylish but hand-printed on 100% organic linen.

Lyssy May's design details are always amazing. The interior of the bag is fully-lined with organic (unprinted) linen too and includes an internal pocket. Magnetic clasps ensure that your contents are safely contained. The fabric design is Cottage Garden.

Our bags are all hand-made especially for you so you can now start ordering for Christmas or for yourself. The clutch purse is also offered in the Marguerite print on the black organic linen or Cottage Garden on the rouge organic cotton/hemp blend. All of these fabrics are exclusive to Thea & Sami and are in limited supply. So if you like, please order via our website.

You can visit Kylie's blog over at Flying Ducks and you will be seeing more of her when she joins us for our October screen-printing class.

Black & White = Style Forever

I'm sad that we can no longer source the black organic linen that we love to screen-print. However there is good news if you're quick; you can be one of the lucky few to own these VERY limited-edition cushions. Beautiful, stylish and chemical-free, it doesn't get better than that.

This is our classic Marguerite print. It's interesting how different each design can look depending on fabric and colour. I think the white on black gives it a Japanese feel, don't you?

Our Cottage Garden print is lovely too. If you can't decide, you can buy both! They're both my "children" so I know that I can't choose.

Stay tuned as we are also using these beautiful fabrics for our upcoming evening clutch purses, again in collaboration with the talented Lyssy May.

Linen, Bicycle & Flowers

I had a vision of a pretty girl riding her bicycle through lavender fields. She is wearing a white lace dress and carrying a very stylish, linen backpack.

Admittedly, I couldn't find a lavender field in Brisbane but I did discover pretty Kylie Timmins who brought along her bicycle to be my model today in a local park.

I enjoy being part of the blogging community and Kylie and I met via our blogs. When I saw her wedding photos (this is the dress she wore) and her bicycle on hers... I knew that I had found my muse.

No lavender here but the flowers we bought are a shade of lavender, no?

This is a sneek preview of our Summer backpack, a design collaboration between Thea & Sami and Lyssy May. The bag is French-inspired, hand-printed and natural linen inside and out. Even the cord is 100% linen because I just love linen!

If you are visiting the Life Instyle trade show, you may view our new accessories range up close. Contact us to make a personal viewing appointment, otherwise you will find us at Stand 226.

Thank you dear Kylie for a lovely day in the park today. Visit Kylie's sweet blog: Flying Ducks.

Sneak Peek

Don't you just love texture on texture?

What's not to love about stitching on beautiful natural linen?

This is a sneak peek of but one style from our upcoming hand-printed accessories collection, a friendly collaboration between Lyssy May and Thea & Sami.

I wish I could show you more but all be revealed at the Life Instyle trade show. If you are attending, please visit us at Stand 226.

Speaking of linens, we are listing new European fabrics on the website this week. Please note that the Versaille Linen has now been discontinued to make room for even nicer styles.

Summer Birds

You may remember my recent design collaboration with handbag queen Alyssa Milton of indie label Lyssy May. I had designed and printed the fabric exclusively for her Peacock range of bags.

Now, after a successful winter season, Alyssa has released her Summer range of Peacocks. These are hand-printed by Thea & Sami on hemp/organic cottons and linen/cottons.

How cute are these zip-purses?  I am thinking Christmas gifts.

And can a girl EVER have enough tote bags? Especially one as original as this;
inspired by retro cafe curtains.

I am so proud of my friend Alyssa who only moved to Melbourne late last year. A few months ago, I
encouraged her to apply for inclusion in the latest edition of Handmade in Melbourne and of course she was accepted!

Thea and Sami is in there too, at least by association. Here is a picture of Alyssa's Strut Your Stuff denim satchel featuring my peacock print. Look closer people!

I can't wait to get my copy of this book and you can order your copy from the Lyssy May website as well as any of Alyssa's beautiful hand-made bags.  Other blogging friends included in the book are Betty Jo and Ink & Spindle.

Peacocks for Thea

I really needed a new day bag (who doesn't) and the lovely Alyssa of
Lyssy May rushed this great denim messenger bag to me in time for the Stitches and Craft Show.  For this bag, the design has been hand-printed on the reverse side of the denim for the contrasting flap and the internal pocket.

I will be showing it off my new bag at Stand 156 as I am proud to have collaborated on this project with Lyssy May by designing and screen-printing the fabric; exclusively available only in the form of envy-worthy Lyssy May bags. See the new winter collection here.

Please note: that my bag was custom-made to be a little wider than the one available on the Lyssy May shopping site. You too can have bags customised. Try and do that through your local department store.  Contact Lyssy May.

Proud Peacocks

Many Brisbanites will be missing the delightful Lyssy May store that was located in Morningside.  However, I am pleased to report that although talented bag designer Alyssa Milton has relocated to Mebourne, her business is thriving and you can view and purchase her new Autumn/Winter collection through her website.

I am as proud as a peacock to have collaborated with Alyssa to have designed and printed this exclusive fabric for her new range.  We stepped outside the screen-printing comfort zone and experimented with printing on corduroy with great results.  More colours and fabrics will follow so to view and to keep updated, check out the Lyssy May blog.

I can't wait to get my own peacock denim carrier. For something different, we have printed the I peacocks on the reverse side which has created a nice contrast for the flap.

Alyssa will assisting on the Thea & Sami stand at the Melbourne Stitches and Craft Show. If you are visiting, you can view and order a peacock bag there.

If you have dreamt of having your own fabric designed and printed for your collection, we can make that a reality for you.  Our studio specialises in screen-printing in small runs.  To discuss further, contact Thea at Thea & Sami.

Little Miss Handbags

I love the new Thea & Sami website and on-line store and I know that some of you do too as I have received some lovely emails telling me so.  I have to thank the multi-talented Alyssa Milton who is the designer and creator of Lyssy May Handbags for the new look website.

Not only does this girl know how to design and sew but she knows how to build a great website from scratch - no templates here!  If you are looking for expertise with creating your own, please contact Alyssa through her website.

Look out for some new fabric designs that we are printing exclusively for Alyssa's upcoming bag designs as part of our wonderful collaboration. She does what she knows best (website design) and I do what I know best (fabric printing).

This wonderful denim hand-made bag is part of Lyssy May's "Little Miss" range. I have just ordered one in the green trim (seen here) and one in the pink trim for my two young nieces for Christmas. Not only are they super original but I won't have to fight the Christmas mall crowds.

See this "Bird at My Window" design and other great hand-bags at Lyssy May's on-line market place.

Again, don't forget that you can leave a comment on any one of these entries (see previous) for a chance for a free door mouse!
